The world of anime has taken the youth by storm. People are very much involved in the world of anime. For years, anime has been popular in Japan, but in recent years, it has gained widespread popularity in the West as well.

The first ever Japanese anime was released in 1917, and the first anime that got famous was Astro Boy, aka Mighty Atom, which was released in 1963. Now that anime has gained huge popularity, more and more anime series are being introduced. Many of the anime series can be watched on Crunchyroll and Netflix with a subscription.

Regardless of its growing popularity, one thing is clear: anime can be overwhelming. So, where should you start? And what really is the best anime? In reality, everything depends on you.

  1. One Piece

One Piece, a Japanese manga series, first premiered in 1997 and was written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. After 20 years, it is again in the spotlight and one of the top-selling ongoing manga. After two years in 1999, the manga was adapted as an anime. Ever since then, the series has released around 1000 episodes. 

The story revolves around the main character, Monkey D. Luffy, and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, who are set on sea in search of a mythical treasure called ‘One Piece’, in order to become the next king of the pirates. 

One Piece's story can be divided into ten parts, and beginners can enjoy it no matter where they begin.

 

  1. Attack on Titan

In recent years, Attack on Titan has been one of the best action anime. The manga was originally released in 2009, and the first anime adaptation was aired in 2013.

In the story, humanity is on the verge of destruction after being attacked by the Titans. The main characters, Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman, along with the other Survey Corps personnel, battle against the Titans.

The manga series ended in 2021, while the anime series aired its final part in November 2023. In total, there are 94 episodes in the four seasons that are worth watching. 

 

  1. Demon Slayer

The record-breaking Demon Slayer has grown enormously in recent years, which should come as no surprise to those who have followed the series so far. Currently, Demon Slayer is the most famous anime, and there are all the good reasons for it. 

It has some of the most exciting and intense action sequences ever to watch on screen. In the blockbuster anime, Tanjiro seeks vengeance for his family's death at the hands of demons, which leads him to join the Demon Slayer Corps. Tanjiro faces terrifying monsters from the Demon Moon clan during his journey. 

 

  1. Death Note 

The horror and mystery anime Death Note is based on a manga that was published on Weekly Shonen Jump from 2003 to 2006 and is enjoyed by both domestic and international viewers. 

Death Note is a now-classic anime about Light Yagami, a kid who gets superhuman abilities through Death Note. A book that allows its owner to kill anyone they want simply by writing their name in the book.

 

  1. Naruto

Because of its enormous global appeal, the legendary Naruto series has been called one of the "big three" anime. It's jam-packed with heart-stopping action sequences, delightfully enjoyable moments, and emotionally charged scenes.

Naruto is set in the fictitious world of Shinobi (Ninja), where an unfit boy named Naruto grows with the help of many friends and masters. Naruto and other Ninja characters fight using various Ninja techniques powered by chakra energy.

Naruto was first released in 1999, and it ran until 2014, with an ending in 2017, after 15 years. It has two titles: Naruto (2002–2007) and Naruto: Shippuden (2007–2017).
