Karan Johar Turns 51, Says Loves Making Films That Are Fun, Fabulous, and Contain Songs, Dance, Music

Karan Johar said that he loves making films that are not too intense or serious but fun and fabulous. His next project is Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.

After seven years, Karan Johar is going to direct feature films. During this time, the filmmaker has directed segments in Ghost Stories and Lust Stories, which are anthologies. Karan turned 51 years of age on 25 May 2023. As the producer, he has had a flourishing time being the head of Dharma Productions. Karan did produce a successful film, Student of the Year a decade back. And he has said that likes to make movies that are fun, with song and dance.

Karan is going to produce and direct Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s starer ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, which is also his next project. It is a family entertainer and also casts Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, and Dharmendra. The writers of the film are Ishita Moitra, Sumit Roy, and Shashank Khaitan. The movie will release on 28 July 2023. Apart from My Name is Khan, Karan’s other films usually have big dance numbers. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was his last film.

Ahead of the release of Student of the Year, Karan said that he loves to dance, songs, and music. Also, he does not apologize for loving glamour. When asked by people as to when he will come up with films about real issues, he said that cinema is about escapism for him and though he did My Name is Khan, he has also enjoyed doing other things. Karan feels that the audiences venture into his world by coming to see his films.

The producer also said that he does not want to show anything that is without glamour and gloss. Karan said he owns up to it and does not want to lie about it because he wants to be fabulous and fun. He does not want to be intense and serious at all. Karan Johar with his Student of the Year launched Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Sidharth Malhotra. And his production house was the first time working with newcomers who will play the titular roles.

And now we can see that all three actors are having successful careers in Bollywood after Student of the Year. Karan has also co-produced Selfiee starring Akshay Kumar as well as Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. However, Selfiee was released in February and did not do well at the box office. Karan is also producing Sidharth, Raashii Khanna, and Disha Patani starer, Yodha, an action thriller film, which will release somewhere in 2023.
